Players' guide

Everything you need for your first night on the curb. Written for the current build; the free demo is an older slice, and where it's different we say so.

Demo No B broom key yet: hold E to sweep. Running spills cans out of your bag.

The loop

  1. Walk the block. Cans, bottles and junk are all over. The LEFT counter and the dots on the map show what's still out there. Nothing refills till tomorrow.
  2. Dig. Hold E on a trash can, bush or dumpster to search it. A search roots you in place till it's done.
  3. Sell. Take it to Curbside Redemption. Or shoot it in (see Curb Shot).
  4. Upgrade. More room means fewer trips. Fewer trips means more cans. That's the whole economy.
  5. Do it again. Every wave you clear gets you closer to the next title.

Trash takes bag space. Banana peels, cups, old socks: they're worth nothing. Dump them at a dumpster. The park has the most cans; downtown has the rarest finds.

Brooms

Sweep loose cans into a pile, then let go to fling the whole pile into your bag. A bigger broom clears a wider strip.

  • Gus's Broom: free. Ol' Gus hands it over at Peaceful Acres, after dark. "You have been chosen. Go forth and sweep."
  • Push n Go: $500. Wider.
  • Titanium Wide-Sweep: $1000. Widest. "Twice the width, half the excuses."

Demo The demo's brooms have older names (Graveyard Broom, Contractor Push Broom) and a fourth rung that's gone now.

Robot arm

Full game Bolt a robot arm onto your cart and it sorts your basket into glass, plastic and metal, one item at a time, even while parked. Full sorted bags sell for double at the right buyer in East.

The Curb Shot

Otis runs the redemption center like a bowling lane. Hold E on the line with something recyclable, and let go while the marker's in the yellow band. That's a STRIKE.

  • Three in a row: a turkey. "Gobble gobble, kid."
  • At night, strikes pay double.
  • Miss? Nothing's lost. Try again.

Watch out

  • Sal "Two Bags" Pacheco. Red cap. Works your curbs. Leave your cart and it gets lighter.
  • Biscuit. A big yard dog with opinions. Knocks cans loose and grabs them. Lead Sal past him and see what happens.
  • Dawn and dusk call them both off for a minute. Use it.
  • Searching roots you. Start a search clear of Sal and Biscuit. A hit loses the find.
